Seghesio is among the absolute best Zinfandel producers. Might be a slightly uninviting wine before decanting; allowing it to breathe will though clearly showcase its complexity and finesse. A wine I could easily fall in love with.

Zinfandel was initially believed to be a distinct variety, yet its DNA structure reveals that it is equivalent to the Primitivo grape found in Puglia, Italy and the Croatian Crljenak Kaatelanski.
Originally widely planted in California, but during the Prohibition (1920-1933) many vines got uprooted. The remaining old vines are today treasured and play a substantial role in California’s fine wine production .
