The 2009 Flowers Pinot Noir from Cazadero in the Sonoma Coast of California. The young wine needed quite a bit of decanting to open up its layers. Yet ended up giving the full flavoured Rib-eye a worthy opponent.
I personally prefer grilling a steak in one piece. Also easier to cook the meat accurate when first closing the steak on a hot pan and then finishing it off in an oven.
